Ruth Evans, 69, of Route 4, died at 12:04 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 1987, at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center.
She had been hospitalized one day following an illness.
Mrs. Evans, born September 13, 1918, in Pittsburg, to Oda [sic] Jeremiah and Maude Quier Miller, was raised in Pittsburg and a 1936 graduate of Pittsburg High School. She had lived in California and returned to Pittsburg in 1966.
She worked 14 years at Pittsburg State University and retired in 1984 as a custodial supervisor.
In 1981, she received the Employee of The Year Award at the University.
She married Willard A. Evans, July 7, 1939, in Lamar, Missouri. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include one son, Joe Evans, of Humboldt; one daughter, Nancy Margrave, of Weir; two sisters, Zella Harris of Afton, Oklahoma, and Alta Mae Czar of Besmar, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Miller and John Kekec; and by two sisters, Emma Kekec and Frances Kekec.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories with Margaret Evans officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.ml today at the Naylor-Quinn Funeral Home, 609 North Elm Street. Friends may call anytime after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
