Gerald Menges died on Oct. 28, 2006, in Upland, Calif.

He was born March 14, 1939 in Two Rivers to Henry and Meta Menges. He attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Washington High School in 1957. After serving in the National Guard, he worked as a draftsman for Ryerson Steel in Chicago. He married Elva Ramos, and they resided in Chicago and Highland, Ind. Later he worked for Bethlehem Steel, and later was transferred to Los Angeles and then moved to Bechtel Engineering and ultimately, started his own construction consulting business.

He was preceded in death by his father: Henry; and his wife: Elva. He is survived by his mother: Meta, Hamilton Home, Two Rivers; and his children and their spouses: Mary Beth and Michael Smith, Brian and Debby Menges, all of Upland, Calif. He is also survived by four grandsons: Garrett and Ryan Menges; and Mitchell and Matthew Smith; special aunt: Marvelyn Loeser, Pananca, Nev. and special friend: Arlene Costello, Fond du Lac; and aunts: Gertrude Jebavy, Two Rivers; and Leila Bosley, West Bend. Also surviving are his sisters and their spouses: Nadine and Wayne Knoll, De Pere: and Joyce and Gary Meyer, Mc Gregor, Iowa: and Elva's siblings and their spouses: Frances and Vidal Salas; Zaida and Steve Gross; John and Luz Ramos; Isabel and Mike Hernandez; Porfifio and Denise Ramos; Raphael Ramos; San Juanita and Chris Murray; Tomas and Molly Ramos: as well as 30 nieces and nephews, and 38 grandnieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on Nov. 2, 2006 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Pomona, Calif.
