MERLIN C. RUPPELT
(1920 - 2006)

Merlin C. Ruppelt, age 86, formerly of 1019 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning at the Manitowoc County Health Care Center.

Merlin was born July 24. 1920, in Manitowoc, son of the late Chester and Emma Westphal Ruppelt. He grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1938 as a member of the National Honor Society. In June of 1946, Merlin married Marion J. Lenz in Manitowoc. Merlin was employed for many years as a boring mill machinist by the Manitowoc Engineering Crane Division. He also owned and managed an auto service station/trailer rental facility at the intersection of S. 19th and Washington St. for many years. Merlin developed a hobby interest in real estate and stock investing, and obtained his real estate agent license in the process. He also enjoyed camping, his family cottage at Pigeon Lake, cars, painting, traveling, reading and spending time with family.

Family survivors include Merlin's wife of 60 years: Marion (Mt. Horeb); a daughter: Chris Ruppelt (Mt. Horeb); a son and daughter-in-law: Alan and Linda (Christman) Ruppelt (Fox Point ); a granddaughter: Sara Ruppelt (Huston, Texas); a grandson: Mark Ruppelt (Whitefish Bay); and two great-grandchildren: Chloe and Jack Ruppelt (Whitefish Bay). His brother: Eugene L. Ruppelt, proceeded him in death in 2004.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center assisted the family with private funeral arrangements.

Memorials would be appreciated to the Manitowoc County Aging Resource Center, 4319 Expo Drive, Manitowoc, WI 54220.

Merlin's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Manitowoc County Health Care Center for the professional care and attention given to Merlin during his six-year residence.
