FRANCIS ARTHUR ALLIE
DEFOREST - Francis Arthur Allie, DVM, age 77, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg. He was born on April 7, 1929, in Two Rivers, the son of Elmer and Margaret (Brunner) Allie. He was united in marriage to Patricia Lahey on Jan. 8, 1955, in Two Rivers. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California Davis, earning his doctorate in 1960. Francis was the city veterinarian at Manitowoc after returning to Wisconsin. From 1961 to 1967 he was employed by the USDA meat inspection division. In 1967 he became the first northeastern area coordinator for the Wisconsin Meat Inspection Program, a position he held for 12 years in Green Bay. Francis was then promoted to assistant administrator of the state meat inspection program in Madison, from which he retired in 1991. In retirement he and Pat enjoyed the good life traveling throughout the South for 13 winters. Francis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Francis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene; and five sisters, Evelyn Eckmann, Charlotte Ruminski, Therese Weiss, Carol Quinnones and Renee Goedjen. Memorial services will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor David McDonald officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Two Rivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fran's name to Windsor United Church of Christ or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or a charity of your choice. Fran's family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Dean Clinic, Home Health Care and Hospice Care for the wonderful care given to Fran.
