Nila Brown was born August 11, 1917 at Hartford, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she received her education, graduating from Washington High School. In 1935, she began working at Pitts Salvage in Sioux Falls.
On August 16, 1953, she was united in marriage with Hymen Pitts in Sioux City, Iowa. Nila continued to work at Pitts until her retirement in 1982, as corporate vice president of the company. Her husband preceded her in death on October 23, 1982.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Irma) Marks of Woodbridge, CA; a sister, Myrtle Barrett of Sioux Falls, SD; a granddaughter, Margaret Noel Marks; a grandson, Mark Austin Pitts, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at East Side Lutheran Church. Interment will be 2:00 pm on Sunday at Sons of Israel Cemetery in Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location.
Memorials may be directed to the East Side Lutheran Church Organ Fund, or the South Dakota Symphony.
