Mrs. Lucy Klinginsmith, one of the oldest citizens of the county in age and in time of living here, died of apoplexy, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lucy Jennings, Thursday night, Jan. 2, aged 85 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

Lucy Doty was born in Deer Creek, Pa., May 10th, 1833; was married to Joel Klinginsmith Oct 9, 1851, to this union were born six chidren, four girls, and two boys, the daughters are the surviving children. The family moved in 1869, and she has been a resident of Greenwood County ever since, almost fifty years.

In girlhood she united with the Methodist church, and in later years transferred to the Christian Church at Eureka, of which she was a member at the time of her death.

The surviving daughters are; Mrs. Sarah Campbell, of Wellston, Okla., Mrs. Esther Miller of Cassion, Okla., Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins, of Quincy, Kans., and
Mrs. Lucy Jennings of Hamilton. There are 23 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church Saturday afternoon, Rev. C. L. Fesler officiating.
