Florence "Ann" Dahling passed away at 9:04pm at Northern Colorado Medical Center surrounded by her eldest living daughter, April and son-in-law, Wyatt, of accute kidney failure due to medical negligence after falling into a coma while rehabilitating at a local long term care facility from a fall just before Thanksgiving 2018. The staff failed to recognize her compromised state and carelessly passed her off as just another late stage dementia patient, despite not having a dementia diagnosis and the fact that she was admitted there for physical rehabilitation. Staff and administrators failed to recognize that Ann was experiencing a medical emergency and ignored her daughter's pleas, whom was also her Power of Attorney, for over a week. When Ann was finally brought to the hospital for medical attention, she was septic from both kidney and liver failure. The attending physician noted that had she been brought in the week before, as requested by her POA, more could have been done and her life possibly saved.

Ann was born at home in the afternoon in Anderson, Indiana, to Robert "Bob" Atkisson and Margarite Atkisson, joining three older half sisters and two older half brothers. Ann lived in Indiana until she was 2 when her parents divorced. Ann and her younger sister, Rose, went to live with their father and his parents in Bakersfield, California. Ann lived in Southern California until her mid-twenties when she and her husband at the time, Charles Head, moved to Northern California. Ann remarried in 1978 after Charles' passing the year before and had a daughter in November of the following year, with Griffin Palmer. They divorced in 1982 and a second daughter was born in April of 1983. Ann remarried again in June of 1991 to Harry Martin Dahling Sr, staying married to him until her death, despite separating in 1995 and last having contact with him in 1997, upon his incarceration.

Ann was a CNA, performing nursing duties in several settings, such as nursing homes, in home care and hospice for over 25 years until complications from Systemic Lupus and Atrial Fibrillation made it difficult to work consistently.

Ann loved horses and most animals in general, passing her love for them on to her daughters.

Ann is preceded in death by her grandparents, both of her parents, three children, one husband, Charles Head and one ex-husband, Griffin Palmer, two elder sisters, Amanda Yale and Ellsie Patterson, both eldest brothers, Virgil Patterson and Butch Atkisson, and her youngest sister, Rose Macmillan and two grandchildren, Brandon Michael and Noel Lily. She is survived by her two youngest daughters, April Talley and Amy Carman of Iowa, Amy's sons, Brandon and Payton, her older sister, Margel Dorsey of Indiana and several nieces and nephews of her eldest and youngest siblings.

Ann's final wishes were to be cremated and her ashes to be spread amongst the Rocky Mountains.
