HERRIN - Ruby Doris Paxton, 77, passed away at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in Herrin Hospital. Doris was born May 29, 1938, in Taylorsville, Mississippi, to Claude and Daisy (Sanford) Blackwell. She was one of 11 children. Doris was first married to James S. Paxton in Biloxi, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2002. She then married Paul Forney on Oct. 4, 2004, in Custer, South Dakota. Survivors include her husband, Paul Forney of Herrin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Barbara Paxton of Farmer City, and John and Vickie Paxton of New Orleans, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Kent Johnson of Herrin; seven grandchildren, Nicole Paxton of Arizona, Justin Paxton of Michigan, Savanna Paxton of Michigan, Roxanne Brouphy of Mississippi, John Jeffrey Paxton of Vermont, Ethan Johnson of Herrin, and Jacob Johnson of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her first husband; and parents. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Henwood officiating.
