RICHARD CAREY SR.

Richard Carey Sr., age 71, of 1023 W. Crescent Drive, Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, October 25, 1997, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 1997, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. William Plank.

He was born October 6, 1926, in Green Bay, son of the late Alvin and Marie Legault Carey. Dick was a veteran of World War II serving in the Naval Air Corp from October 1943 until May 1946. On September 12, 1970, he married the former Judy Carey in Channing, Mich. Dick was the owner and operator Carey Lakeshore in Manitowoc for over 21 years.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, Manitowoc; two daughters, Christian Dickinson, Boulder, Colo., Tanina Davanzo, Hartford, Wis.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Denyne Carey, Wausau, Rick Carey, Madison, Andrew Carey, Los Angeles, Calif.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Lucile Carey, Channing, Mich.; brothers-in-law and their wives, Larry and Debra Carey, Appleton, David and Sandy Carey, Channing, Mich., Michael and Colleen Carey, Iron Mountain, Mich. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brian Carey, Kimberly (Brent) Nelson, Jennifer, Ian, Michael and Caleb Dickinson, Justin and Taylor Davanzo; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Nelson; nine dearly loved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will greet relatives and friends at First Presbyterian Church from 12 noon Saturday until the time of service at 1 p.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The courage of your struggle was driven not by a fear of death but by your deep love of life. As you lived, so did you cross the bridge to God with passion, nobility, and an endearing love for your family.
