RUSSELL VICTOR PETERSON
(1920 - 2006)

Russell Victor Peterson passed away at Morningside Park Vista Hospital in Fullerton, Calif., on April 20, 2006. He was 85.

Russ was born on Oct. 19, 1920, son of the late Victor and Ella (Winkelmiller) Peterson, in Two Rivers. He enjoyed all sports and especially being his class president in 1938. Each year he would try to return to his hometown to enjoy family and friends. In the European Theater, he served in the Engineer Corps as a first lieutenant. After serving. he finished a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin and became an engineer for the Standard Oil Company of Ohio. He also attended the Cleveland Marshall Law School, earning an LLb and becoming a member of the Ohio Bar. His interests turned to the corrugated box industry, and he soon became a production manager of plants in Indiana, Illinois, Canada and California. Next, Russ became interested in running his own company, which provided equipment and plant designs for box makers. He and his partners became well known throughout the western states. Russ was an avid world traveler, having visited 175 countries. His fondest trip was one where he climbed the Rwanda Mountains to visit Dian Fossey's gorilla family.

Russ is survived by his wife of 59 years: Beatrice Calkins; a brother: Kenneth Peterson and his wife, Jeanette, of Manitowoc; a daughter: Debra and her husband, Daniel Reid, of Fullerton; a daughter: Sandra and her husband, Richard Webster, of Ocala, Fla.; a granddaughter: Tiffany Reid; a grandson: Kyle Reid and his wife, Jacqueline, of New Mexico: and a darling great-granddaughter: Taylor Olivia Reid. Russ also has many lovely nieces and nephews in Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and their spouses: Marjorie Breivogel: Jane Kirchner; Carol Brouchoud; and Edith Mae Schmidt.

Russ is at rest at Loma Vista Cemetery in Fullerton. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on April 28 at the Wilshire Avenue Community Church, 212 E. Wilshire Ave., Fullerton, Calif.
