Bruce was born March 2, 1941, in Clinton, IA, to Burnie J. and Jeannette (Busz) Wiersema. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1959. He married Ruth A. Geerts on September 18, 1971 in Morrison, IL. She died July 14, 2005. Bruce had worked for Patent Novelty, later known as Fulton Corporation, of Fulton, IL. He also worked at the Fulton Post Office, American Air Filter of Morrison, IL and lastly, for Carstensen Freight Lines of Clinton, IA, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, and had been the church's pianist. He also played piano, organ and the tuba in the original Clinton Symphony Orchestra. He was a member and served on the board of the Fulton Historical Society and also belonged to the Over 50 Club. He was a driver for the Senior Citizen's Bus and was a coordinator of the Fulton Food Pantry.
Survivors include one brother, Warren Wiersema, of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; one sister, Gloria Reed.
