Bonny Kay Abel

Was born August 8th, 1970 in La Grande, Oregon to parents Mack and Edna Abel, the family moved to Hermiston, OR in 1973 and Bonny attended school in Hermiston, graduating High School in Echo, OR in 1989. Following high school, Bonny lived in Ontario and McNary Oregon, but eventually ended up calling Hermiston her home, living in the country where she and her family cultivated a large garden (which she loved and was very proud of), and raised chickens, cows and dogs, Bonny loved her country home, and she loved to camp, mow the yard with her riding lawn mower, horseback riding and crafting.

Bonny worked at Head Start and ESD in the therapeutic classroom as a teacher’s assistant and was loved by many students, teachers and parents, she worked hard in her academics to obtain her position in the classroom and enjoyed her work with the children, working naturally one on one and in groups with the children; she was known as “Teacher Bonny!” Bonny cherished her time with her children (Derick, Kaylee and Gunner), grandchildren, as well as, her entire family and her countless friends, she was LOVED by so many.

Bonny is survived by her fiancée, Greg Rodgers, Hermiston, OR, father Mack Abel (Susan), Hermiston, OR; children, Derick Harmon (Sarah), Kaylee (Tony) and William “Gunner” Rodgers, Hermiston, OR; brother, Roy Kessell (Bonnie), Hermiston, OR and sister, Brandie Aughinbaugh (Jesse); 8 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bonny was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Abel; grandparents, Bud and Dee Abel and Raymond and Violent Harnar and Aunt Claira Kimball.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 1pm at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.
