In Dracut, on the 18th instant, Parker Varnum, Esq. aged 77 years. He was a man whose whole life, though protracted beyond the term usually allotted to human existence here, was marked with uniformity, integrity, and usefulness; consequently, his death is an event, in which not only his friends, but the public are interested. In a public capacity as a magistrate; (and he was probably the oldest in the County,) in the state legislation, of which he was several years a member; and in other public functions, he was upright, independent and opinions, by any selfish consideration; frankly declaring them on proper occasions, after due deliberation and a conviction of their correctness, without waiting to ascertain whether it would enhance or diminish his popularity. ---Chelms. Cour.
