Rose Schmelzer Funeral Services Scheduled Friday
Rites are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Riley Funeral Home for Mrs. Rose B. Schmelzer, 83, who died about 3 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 217 1/2 Pearl street. She had been in failing health several months.
The Rev. Emmett Barnes of the Lincoln Boulevard Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery.
A daughter of Joe and Eliza Moorehead Brown, she was born May 27, 1874, at Brighton, but had spent most of her life here. She later married Louis Schmelzer.
Surviving are one son, Sherman Gerels; one daughter, Mrs. Dale Noel; three brothers Clark and Andrew Brown, all of Muscatine, and Albert Brown, of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one daughter.
