Elmer Lee Lance,74, of Mena died Friday morning in the Mena Manor Nursing Home. He was born on February 16, 1917, in Polk County. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday Aug. 5, in the Geyer-Quillin Chapel with bro. Roy Powell and Bro. Gary Barrett officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Rocky under the direction of Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Marvin Yahn, Raymond Yahn, Frankie Lance, Charles Wayne Lance, Richard Silverman, and Larry Richardson Jr. Lance was the son of the late Jim S. Lance and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hoover. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Metcalfe on June 24, 1942, in St. Joseph, LA. He had made his home in Mena, all of his life, was a commercial fisherman, and of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors are wife, Mary Lance, Mena, four sons, Glen Lance, Newellton, La., Daniel Lee Lance, Rocky, Lonnie Zerel Lance, Acorn, Dewey Kenneth Lance, Rocky, five daughters, Mary Evelyn Richardson, Shreveport, La., Alta Dione Silverman, Baton Rouge, La., Nell Christine Williams, Mena, Frances Louise Oglesby, Monroe, La., Lila Mae Raines, Mena, two brothers Lonnie O. Lance, Hatfield, James Lance, New Potter, one sister Mildred Crawford, Mena 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
