According to "THE MISSIONARY HERALD" Vol. 36, which was published for the year 1840, Electa Hopkins was born on May 9, 1795 in Hanover, New Hampshire, the daughter of Stephen Hopkins, who was born in 1764 in Massachusetts, and Nancy Tuner. At the time this volumn of THE MISSIONARY HERALD was published, Mr. Holland & Mrs. Electa (Hopkins) Holland were residing in Peacham, Vermont. At this time, Electa (Hopkins) Holland is listed as a ASSISTANT MISSIONARY.

According to a site on familysearch, William Holland, who was born on February 7, 1798 in Bechertown, Hampshire County, Massachsusetts, was married to Electa Hopkins on August 10, 1823 in Peacham, Caledonia County, Vermont. William Holland was the son of Jonas Holland.
William Holland and Electa (Hopkins) Holland were the parents of at least five children, including;
