FIVE OFFICERS ARE KILLED IN CRASH
San Marcos, July 5 - The Army Air Forces Navigation School here investigated today the wreckage of a twin motored plane which carried five officers to their deaths near Pine Valley.
The plane, overdue since Saturday, was found yesterday. It had been on a routine training flight, public relations officers of the school said.
The dead were listed as:
Second Lt. Floyd Eugene Koblentz, 22, Chester, Ohio, pilot.
Second Lt. Philip Bean Harris, 26, navigation instructor, Walpole, N.H.
Second Lt. William John Antoine, student, Toledo, Ohio
Second Lt. Robert Rosenschein, 21, student, New York City.
Second Lt. Jan P. Bogdan, 25, student, New Britain, Conn.
Rosenchein and Bogdan were married, their wives residing at New Braunfels, Tex.∼Floyd served as a Second Lieutenant on AT-7 #42-43505, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Meige County, Ohio prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 3, 1942 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Radio operator and also as Single, without dependents.
AT-7 #42-43505 took off from San Marcos Army Air Force Base, San Marcos, Texas on a training flight. The AT-7 crashed, for an unknown reason, 2 miles south of Pine Valley, Oklahoma during the war.
Floyd died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash.
