The passing of Lester Leroy Murphy of Fredericton, NB, husband of April Lee (Lawrence) Murphy occurred on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at York Care Center. Born on November 13, 1933 in Port Morien, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Courtney and Katherine Murphy. He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 35 years. Lester was a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15, Marysville, NB. He was affiliated with Sunset Church.

In addition to his wife, Lester is survived by his step children, Doug Humble (Joyce) of Rusagonis, NB, Pat Boone (Kathy) of Prince William, NB, Tammy Boone of Prince William, NB and Jody Sawyer (Scott) of Prince William, NB; grandchildren, Erica Humble, Anthony and Nathan Boone, Courtney and Hannah Cliff, Alysa and Alexa Daly and Brooke Sawyer; sisters, Deanna Calder (Ray) of Ontario and Brenda Frank (Joe) of Fort Morien, NS; brother, Courtney Murphy of Victoria, BC; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2 pm with Pastor Kendall McRae officiating and Pastor Dale Riley assisting. No flowers by request, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, York Care Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
