Bobby McCullough sheriff of Coffee co from 1974 to 1986, died Thursday at the age of 55 after a extended illness.

McCullough was elected to the sheriff position in 1974 at the age of 32, becoming the youngest Sheriff in Tennessee history. He held the sheriff's seat for a total of 12 years.

A Native of Noah community coffee county. McCullough became a deputy under Sheriff Dan Daniel. He became a sheriff in warren county in 1964 and returned to serve as a coffee County deputy under Frazier McEwen from 1965 to 1967. He was Chief of police in Manchester from 1967 to 1968, then returned to the sheriff under Daniel from 1968 through 1974 until his election as sheriff.

survivors include his wife Kathy Farrar McCullough, and son, Bobby Delano McCullough Jr., daughter Cyndi McCullough crosslin, step son, craig Pope, Step daughter Tessa Brooke Schneider. Services were held Sunday Manchester Funeral home.

Bobby McCullough has come from a long line of men that are in Law enforcement. He served 12 years with the sheriff's department in Manchester, Tenn. He was also presented the military order of the purple heart during a 4th annual convention. He also served as Deputy and sheriff in another county.
