She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 25, 1924, to Hiram Lewis Walker and Rachael Young Walker. She graduated from Ben Davis High School and Indiana Beauty College in Indianapolis.
She was a hairstylist with her own shop in Indianapolis and later worked in Anderson at the Americano Beauty Salon. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Paoli/French Lick, and a past member of Madison County Ladies Shrine. She was a Girl Scout Brownie leader in Evansville.
She also did volunteer work with Senior Action Care in Anderson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brownsville, Texas, where she and her husband, Albert Glenn Richardson, lived after retirement. When he died in 1992, she returned to Anderson.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Charles Kerkhoff; and her brother, Merle Walker.
Survivors are her daughters, Carol (Ron) Watson and Donna Richardson. She was loved by her six grandchildren, Dylan Clear, Kelly Watson Young, Monica Clear, Alisa Watson Perrel, Dana Watson Resler, and Kirk Watson. She was great- grandmother to 14.
Jewell will be cremated and buried alongside her husband in Acton, Indiana, (Marion County).
