Richard "Dick" Phillips, 82, of Carmichaels, Pa., passed away at 10:15 P.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born November 14, 1936 in Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Robert J. and Rosa M. (Fox) Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was a 1955 graduate of Cumberland Township High School and served as an elder at the Hewitt Presbyterian Church, Rices Landing, Pa. He worked as a land development agent in northern Virginia where he was vice-president of the Weissberg Development Corporation. Mr. Phillips was instrumental in the construction of shopping centers and office buildings in northern Virginia. Upon his retirement in 1987, he introduced Texas Longhorn cattle to Cumberland Township. Mr. Phillips was a member of Kemper-Macon Ware Lodge No. 46, A. F. & A. M., Falls Church, Va. On December 17, 1969, he married Penny Roupas, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John C. Phillips (Judy) of Fraziers Bottom, W. Va. and Richard P. Phillips (Angie) of Woodbridge, Va.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Robert G. Phillips, Sr. of Carmichaels; three sisters, Hazel Garrison of West Alexander, Pa., Charlotte Makel (Dwayne) and Bertha Ludrosky, both of Rices Landing and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. The Rev. Donald Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow at Muddy Creek Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Greene County. Valley Lodge No. 459, F. & A. M. will conduct Masonic Services at 7:30 P.M. on Monday in the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
