Howard W. Easterling was considered by many the best third baseman in Negro league baseball. He died of natural causes in the Covington County Nursing Center in Collins, Mississippi. Easterling played between 1936 and 1954. First drafted by the Zulu Cannibal Giants in 1936, he would play for the Homestead Grays to the New York Cubans. He also played several seasons of winter baseball in Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
