Charlotte H. Silva, 77, died today at her home, 1167 Darms Lane, after a short illness.

A native of Azores Islands, she came to this country when she was 14 and lived in New Bedford, Mass., for 25 years. Later she resided in Rhode Island for a short time before coming to Napa 14 years ago.

Mrs. Silva was a member of Napa Grange.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Irene Bryant and Mrs. Sophia Cook, both of Napa, Mrs. Dorothy Sweeney of Newport, R.I., and Mrs. Olive Viera of Yountville; four sons, Al Silva of Napa, Walter Silva of Hartford, Conn., Adolph Silva of the U.S. Navy and Arthur Silva of Vallejo; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother in Newport.

The Rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. at the chapel of the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, Yountville, with the cortege to leave the funeral home at 9. Burial will be in Tulocay Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to St. Joan of Arc Church are preferred.
