Orville H. Adkins, 74, of 2685 Cedarwood, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the emmergency room of Bartholomew County Hospital.
He was the father of Dr. Stanley R. Adkins of Columbus and had been a resident of Columbus since Nov. 1, 1981 when he came here from Twelve Mile.
Dr. Jack Miller conducted a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. today at Asbury United Methodist Church. The Rev. Howard Lindley will conduct a scripture service at Twelve Mile United Methodist Church on Tuesday and calling there will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at the Mount Carmel Cemetery at Twelve Mile.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Adkins was born June 13, 1909, at Star City, to William B. and Ida Croucher Adkins. He married Madys Martin May 7, 1939, at Twelve Mile, and she survives. He was a 50-year member of the Twelve Mile Masonic Lodge; a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and former member of the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church. He had been a farmer and was employed for 28 years by the Logan Machine Co. at Logansport.
Surviving besides his wife and son are a sister, Lola Ulerick of Twelve Mile route 1; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
