James R. Carter died Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

Services for James will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at Rock Bridge Christian Church, 301 West Green Meadows Road in Columbia; Rev. Sarah Klaasen presiding.

James was born on June 30, 1993 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Hickman High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri in 2017. He excelled in many things, including any sport he ever tried, cooking, and making friends.

James had the ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. He loved unconditionally and without reservation. He was well known throughout Columbia for his kindness and quick wit. James’ company was coveted, and anyone who got to spend time with him felt they were given a gift.

James was the son and fifth child of Roger and Ruth Carter. He was a devoted brother to his six siblings: Kelly (Seth) Hein, Mykle (Elizabeth) Clark, Rachel (Collin) Carter-Shadle, Jordan Carter, Anne Carter and Molly Carter. He was the best uncle to Sean-Liam, Shannon, Isla, Penelope, Finn and Joaquin.

James will be missed beyond measure.
