Etta Caroline Ford was one of seven children born to Henry F and Elizabeth S "Betty" Tate Ford. Henry was a native of Germany and Betty was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Caroline's death information lists her birthday as 10 November 1856 but the census records point to 1860 as the year of her birth. She was born in either Rockbridge or Rockingham County. She was called Caroline or Carrie throughout her life. Her family lived for a time in Page County before settling in Rockingham County. Caroline lived with her brother, Mac, and his family for a time before working as a servant in the home where her father was a border in 1900. By 1909, she had moved to Clarksburg, West Virginia and was living with her sister and brother-in-law, Rosa K and Jacob Miller. I assume that she moved to West Virginia after her father had passed. On 2 April 1911, Caroline married Benjamin Franklin Silverling (Born Abt. 1856 in PA), a widower, in Harrison County, West Virginia. They lived in Clarksburg until Ben's passing on 26 March 1936. Caroline passed on 1 July 1939 and was buried two day later at Mount Zion Cemetery according to her death information. It is possible that Ben is buried there as well. By the time of her death, Caroline only had one sibling still living, a brother, Everett Franklin Ford in Montana, though there is no death information to be found for her sister, Rosa.

Caroline's siblings:
McIntire Philmore "Mac" Ford (1853-1934)
Benjamin St Joseph "Joe" Ford (1854-1909)
Augustus Woodwill "Wood" Ford (1855-1930)
Everett Franklin Ford (1858-1947)
Charles Oak "Charlie" Ford (1861-1914)
Rosa K Ford Lilly Miller (1865- )
