Janis E. Minaker, 87, passed away Thursday, May 30, at her home, 2204 Neshotah Road, Two Rivers with family presence.

Janis was born on Oct. 4, 1925, to the late Alvin and Ada (Kahrs) Myers, in Two Rivers, Wis. She attended Hamilton and Saint John's schools and moved to Manitowoc, graduated from Lincoln high with the class of 1943. Janis married Russell Minaker, Dec. 1 1944, in Sunnyvale, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Janis was a member of Two Rivers Homemakers of America, and a member of the U.S.S. Submarine Wives, San Francisco chapter, Hayward California. Also, she was member of Blossom Hill Eastern Star, of San Jose California.

Survivors are her three daughters, Kristine (Louis) Pompa, Hollister, Calif.; Nanette Minaker, Oshkosh, Wis.; and Rebecca (Leon) Lindsey, Santa Cruz, Calif. Also one son, Russell (Michelle) Minaker, Two Rivers, Wis.; six grandchildren, Frank Butler Jr., Fond du Lac, Wis.; Elizabeth (Mark) Harwell, San Jose Calif.; Ben Kerkes the 3rd, Hollister Calif.; Matthew (April) Kerkes, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Levi and Seth Minaker, Two Rivers, Wis. Janis had six great-granddaughters, Frankianne, Cheyenne and Reagan Rose Butler, Marlee and Pauline Harwell, Ava Kerkes. She also had two great-grandsons, George Butler and Ian Kerkes.

Janis was the sister of James (Bettie) Myers, Two Rivers, Wis.; John Myers, Mississippi. Also, June Pipkin, Jackie Nett, Judi Walters and Jamie Myers, all from Fond du Lac. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Jay, and Jan Myers; also one sister, Jeanne Feltmen.

The Minaker family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert Gahl of Two Rivers, for his considerate care for many years and especially for suggesting Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice. Their nurses not only enjoyed friendship with Janis for many months, but they provided compassionate care and support the family needed so she was able to enjoy her lake view home until her passing. Janis and her family are very grateful for Heartland's care.

According to her wishes, there will be no funeral service. She would like everyone to remember her with happiness.
