DR. JOHN LAWRENCE STOUNE

(1945 - 2011)


Dr. Larry Stoune, 65, of New Plymouth, Idaho, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2011, surrounded by family.


Larry was born on Sept. 2, 1945, in Decatur, Ill., son of the late John Austin Stoune and Patricia Ann (Smith) Stoune. He attended high school at Shattuck Military Academy in Fairbault, Minn. After high school, Larry attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., with a bachelor's degree in biochemisty. Larry attended medical school in 1971 at St. Louis University School of Medicine. His Internal Medical residency was completed from 1971-1974 in Cleveland, Ohio.


He served as a physician in the United States Air Force from 1974-1975. Larry worked as an Internal Medicine doctor on the Scott Air Force Base in O'Fallon, Ill. In 1976, he moved to the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area and started his own medical practice at the Medical Arts Building in Manitowoc. Larry relocated to Ontario, Ore., in 1991 and continued his medical practice. In addition to Internal Medicine, Larry completed a certification in Addiction Medicine in 2009 and became a forerunner for the treatment of addiction.


Larry enjoyed hunting, dog training, long distance running, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and teasing his grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife: Debra Stoune; four daughters and sons-in-law: Laura and Keith Klein, Green Bay; Jill and Scott DeRosier, Two Rivers; Ann and Tim Klein, Two Rivers; Megan Johnson, New Plymouth, Idaho; and one son and daughter-in-law: Bryan and Stephani Johnson, Seattle, Wash. Larry was also loved by seven grandchildren: Alexander Klein, Grace DeRosier, Isabella Klein, Katelyn Klein, Jaksen Johnson, Aubry DeRosier and Olivia Klein. He is further survived by his brother: Bill Stoune, Assumption, Ill.; and his niece: Jordan Stoune, Assumption, Ill.


Private family services will be held. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. James Rasmus. Cremation will take place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, at a later date.


The family will greet relatives a,nd friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc.


In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial gifts be made to Unio Recovery Center, P.O. Box 606 Ontario, Oregon, 97914.


The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.


Larry's family would like to especially thank the entire staff of the Holy Family Home Health Care Center. The entire staff was very compassionate and loving during Larry's home care. Your kindness will always be remembered.
