Lilyan Marie Hoy, 92, Kokomo, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born February 21, 1927, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Leslie & Ruby (Keirsey) Coop. On December 25, 1945, in Inglewood, California, Lilyan wed David Hoy in a ceremony by David’s father who was the pastor of the Inglewood First Christian Church. David preceded her in death on November 17, 1997.

Lilyan was a 1944 graduate of Inglewood High School in California. While living in California, she worked for Hughs Aircraft and Drs. Coranado & Burk. Lilyan and David, along with five other couples, started La Mirada Christian Church in La Mirada, California. In Indiana, she had been a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church since 1984. She was also a member of the Garden Club, Psalms Bible study, and the Howard County Extension Homemakers.

Lilyan sought to serve her Lord with her life. She taught Sunday school and VBS, volunteered in the church office, contributed to building projects, and cooked many church meals. Lilyan blessed others with her talents in sewing, cooking, baking, and decorating. She also enjoyed traveling.

Lilyan is survived by her children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister along with many nieces and nephews.

Lilyan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Evelyn Achee; and grandson, Brandon A. Hoy.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Primrose for their wonderful care of Lilyan. She truly loved them all.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Chapel Hill Christian Church, 2600 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Lilyan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Chapel Hill Christian Church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
