Mr. Nagel was born on January 8, 1923 at Nashville, IL the son of Henry and Laura (Schwengels) Nagel. He was united in marriage to Ruth Speck for 33 years and they later divorced. He later remarried Theople "Opal" Sims for 26 years and she preceded him in death on February 9, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Evans Nagel, and his sister Opal Kraus.
Per the wishes of Vernon and his family, his body was donated to the Southern Illinois College of Medicine in Carbondale, IL and Masonic services will be held at Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 6 P.M..
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the American Legion Post 110 Honor Guard and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
