Ackerman - Meek Walton Busby, age 72 of Ackerman, died Monday, July 1, 1996 of cancer at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Busby was a farmer and a retired machinist with Babcock-Wilcox in West Point. He was also a veteran of Worls War II and a member of the American Legion Post 82. He was an active member of Chester Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school.
Mr. Busby is survived by his wife Allie (McMinn) Busby of Ackerman; two sons, Demar Busby of Mathiston and M.P. Busby of Ackerman; two daughters, Marie Oberhousen of Raymond and Betty Vitt of Jackson; one brother, Elmer Busby of Palmura, N. J. and two sisters, Georgia Bell Ward of Ackerman and Anniereen Shaw of Memphis, Tenn. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 3, 1996 at Chester Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Weddle and the Rev. Danny Irving officiating. Burial services were held in Antioch Cemetery in Reform. Nowell Funeral Services of Ackerman were in charge of arrangements.
