Beverly Knef (neeMatthews), 80, of Iselin, died on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born in Elizabeth.NJ and grew up in Plainfield, NJ. She graduated Plainfield High School class of 1958. Beverly was the daughter of Wesley and Clara (Aidale) Matthews. Beverly married James Knef January 17, 1960 at St Bernards RC Church, Plainfield, NJ . She had lived in Maplewood before moving to Iselin in 1961. She was a communicant of St. Cecelia's RC Church in Iselin. We learned from Bev that family comes first, stick to your values, and treat others with respect. She enjoyed cooking, was an expert at stretching a dollar, rescued numerous cats and dogs, and made the best chocolate chip cookies. Most of all, she loved her family. She looked forward to family gatherings, and spent countless hours talking, texting and visiting with her grandchildren. Bev was selfless and always helped those in need. She spent her final years caring for her beloved husband.

She is predeceased by her husband, James (d.2018).
