Passing Of Mr. S. F. Johnstone
Mr. S. F. Johnston, who passed away at his residence, Matilda street, Port Lincoln, on Sunday last, was a well-known identity of the town and district. About 45 years ago he was in business in Tasman Terrace, as a saddler and harness maker. At Cummins he was a buyer of wheat and also ran a general store in that town. He was instrumental in having the brick building erected on the old Cummins show-ground. Later, he returned to Port Lincoln where he again opened as a saddler and boot repairer. However, failing health prevented him continuing his business, and he had lived in retirement for the past two years. He leaves a widow and two sisters— Mrs. A. Pengle, Port Lincoln, and Mrs. M. Thompson, of Semaphore. His remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery on Tuesday last, Rev. Father Pope conducting the burial service.
