MARK ALLAN OEHLKE
(1955 - 2016)

Mark Allan Oehlke of Paso Robles passed away unexpectedly in Escondido, CA on February 20, 2016. He was 61.

Mark was born to Myrtle and Irvin Oehlke in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Growing up, Mark enjoyed fishing with his father on Lake Michigan. After earning his M.S. at U.W. Stout, Mark accepted a position with General Mills in Lodi, California. It was there that he met and married his wife, Diane, in 1982. The newlyweds would spend the first 10 years of their marriage in Lodi, where they enjoyed being young and spending time with their family and friends. Mark and Diane were transferred to several locations during his career, including Canada and Iowa. They settled in Paso Robles, CA when Mark retired from General Mills in 2005 after 26 years of service. Mark was an "over the top" fan and "owner" of the Green Bay Packers. He was an accomplished Chess player and lover of cribbage.

Mark will be missed by his new friends at the Senior Center who he would go play bi-weekly with. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Irvin Oehlke, and brother, Jack Oehlke. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diane and their son, Matthew. He is also survived by mother-in-law Eileen Bischel, sister-in-law, Margaret Oehlke, and other extended family members, as well as lifelong friends, Michael and Gaylyn Wallace and Jerry Nooker.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations to CASA (SLO), English Springer Rescue of America (ESRA) or an animal shelter of your preference.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Roses, 3450 El Camino Real in Atascadero. Come celebrate a life well lived, and bring your favorite Mark story.
