EDWARD PLOEDERL
(1914 - 2006)

Edward Ploederl, 92, died peacefully at his home in Green Bay, in his sleep on Nov. 10, 2006.

He was born on April 5, 1914 in Manitowoc to the late Frank and Matilda (Metzger) Ploederl. Edward was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On June 5, 1939, he married Carmen Stoeger at St. Andrew Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1995. Eddie credits his successful career as a paint chemist with his start at Heresite Chemical, Manitowoc. In 1949 he founded Wisconsin Protective Coating Corporation and manufactured industrial coatings and house paints under the trademark Plasite. During his partnership with John Clark and Francis Ploederl, Plasite evidenced much growth in international sales. Eddie was an avid golfer who obtained a coveted hole-in-one and was known for his exceptional putting skills. He held membership in the Elks Club, and was a past member of Shorewood Country Club, Royal Scot and Northbrook. Eddie loved growing flowers, especially roses, which he proudly displayed in his gardens. Eddie was a generous and loving person who cared about his family, friends and those in need. He and Carmen were members of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter and sons-in-law: Donna (Don) Berendsen, Green Bay, and Jeffrey (Dian) Gerstner, Minocqua; and eight grandchildren: Laura (Rene') Cortez, Mark Berendsen, James (Kim) Berendsen, Amy Sandoval, Melinda Berendsen, Joel (Ora) Gerstner, Geri Lynn Gerstner and Gregory Gerstner; sisters-in-law Dorothy Stoeger and Rose Mary Stoeger. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, especially Judy (Tom) Dokey, Bill (Dolly) Ploederl and Bob (Joanne) Ploederl; good friends Kelly Clark, Lorraine Clancy, Vivian Thiry and Bea Moens; exceptional neighbors Lori Lavis and her dog Honey; Dick and Jean Zimonick; JoAnn and Joe Dais and their dog Penny, Madeline Wery and Gene Gilbert, who all kept a watchful eye on him.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Suzanne Gerstner; two grandsons, Eddie Berendsen and Steven Gerstner; his brothers and their wives Francis (Delores) Ploederl and Ervin (Violet) Ploederl; and Carmen's brothers, Donald Stoeger and Mark Stoeger, and recently his nephew, Roger Ploederl.
