Charles and Audrey and first two sons moved from Wisconsin to St. Charles, Kane Co., Illinois about 1922.

Charles married second Thelma Joyce Smith on 4 July 1936.
They were enumerated at Palatine, Cook Co., Illinois in the 1940 US Census and at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, in the 1950 US Census. He listed his residence as Flint, Michigan, when he registered for the World War II Draft on 16 February 1942.
Charles was a Vice President of Starkweather Lumber Co., Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, in about 1950.
All three of his sons served the US Armed Forces during World War II. One son, Charles Robert, a US Army Air Corps pilot, was lost on a mission from French Morocco to England.
