Allen Gardner “Sonny” Leatherman, Jr. 75, of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD. He was born on March 14, 1944 in Sharpsburg, MD to the late Allen Gardner Sr. and Hazel Marie Griffith Leatherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann Scuffins Leatherman.
He was employed by St. Lawrence Cement of Hagerstown, MD for 45 years until retiring in 2009. Sonny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Sharpsburg, MD. He was also a member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM of Williamsport, MD.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jane Flook Leatherman whom he married September 17, 1986; daughter Caroline K. Leatherman-Weichmann; daughter Karen M. Metz; daughter Cathy M. Smith; son Gregory A. Leatherman; son Raymond D. Monninger, Jr.; sister Nancy J. Smith; sister M. Jane Sirbaugh; sister Sharon A. Coulter; sister Bette L. DeWease; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one grandson and a brother Rodney L. Leatherman.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, MD. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD.
