FORT SMITH -- James Elmer Tarpley, 83, of Fort Smith, died February 12, 1998,
at a Fort Smith nursing home.
Born April 16, 1914, at Sweet Home, he was a son of the late Thomas A.
Tarpley and Sarah J. Dreher.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.
Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Garner of Fort Smith
and Lois Forsythe of Austin, Texas; and a stepbrother, Ralph Cloar of Pine
Bluff.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Pine Grove Cemetery at
Sweet Home by Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Pine Grove
Cemetery, 1710 Wright, Sweet Home, Arkansas, 72206.
