Ben received his elementary and high school education in Bozeman, graduating in 1962. Upon graduating, he attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. After receiving his degree he accepted a position for the Idaho State Department of Transportation. At a later date, he purchased a mercantile store in Dixon, Mont. He owned and operated the store for 15 years. Deciding it was time for a change he moved to Deer Lodge and purchased "Ben's Arena Bar and Casino" which he operated until the time of his passing.
Ben's favorite past time was riding his Harley. This hobby took him to many different places throughout the country and he established many lasting friendships. He was known to quote "that life is full of endless highways."
He is survived by his soul mate of 19 years, Marilyn Walker, along with her two children, Lori and Chad, and his grandchildren, Cash, Rikki (his favorite granddaughter), and Trace. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Pam and Marie, numerous nephews and nieces, and very special friends.
Per his request there will be no services. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, Sept. 13, at "Ben's Arena Bar and Casino."
"Have a safe ride Ben!"
