Obituary for Elmer Bartsch:
Elmer J. Bartsch, 68, of 825 E. 88th St. Newaygo, and formerly of Battle Creek
and Bellevue, died Saturday, Jan. 27, at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids. He had been a patient for 10 days and had been ill for several years.
He was born in Grand Rapids and moved to Battle Creek and then to Bellevue. He moved to Newaygo a year ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Schweitzer Construction Co. in 1982, where he worked since 1976, and was also employed at G.O. Lewis Construction Co. from 1958 to 1976.
He was member of the Labor Local259 AFL-CIO and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a gourmet cook.
Surviving are sons. L. Duane and Derwood J. Bartsch, both of Battle Creek, a
daughter Sally Woodin of South Boardman; nine grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren, brothers, Fred Bartsch of Rockford, Harold Bartsch of
Florida and Earl Bartsch of Georgia; and a sister Lillian Wilkey of Newaygo.
His wife, the former Pearl W. Vroman died in 1984.
