Marcella was born June 22, 1905 in the Town of Centerville to the late Charlie and Emma (Heckmann) Voss. On October 10, 1925 she married Hilbert A. Freis at St. James U.C.C. , Spring Valley. He preceded her in 1998. They were privileged to celebrate 73 years of marriage.
Marcella attended Lafollette School in the Tn. of Centerville. After marriage, she and Hilbert resided on their dairy farm for 67 years. She enjoyed gardening, the apple and pear orchards, and going to Manitowoc Farmer's Market with the produce. She loved music, played the piano, and organized family sing-alongs. She was well known for her skill at tatting, sharing her handiwork with family and friends. Marcella was a member of St. John - St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for many years, and also belonged to the Ladies Aid Society.
Marcella is survived by her daughters Carol (Vernon) Grupe of Cleveland, Sandra Fries of Appleton, and Rogene ( Roger ) Stolsen of Stillwater, MN. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, a great grandchild, and two brothers, Stanley and Roy Voss.
