Helen R. Schmeichel, 89, a resident of Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, formerly of 1812 Garfield Street, Two Rivers, died Thursday evening, January 28, 1988 at Hamilton Memorial Home. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Greg Smith will officiate with burial to
follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mrs. Schmeichel was born November 29, 1898 at Two Rivers, daughter of the late David and Catherine Geimer LaFond. She married Edgar C. Schmeichel on June 28, 1924 at Two Rivers. He preceded her in death in January of 1988. Mrs. Schmeichel was a member of the Ladies of St. Luke.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Daniel Scheuer of Manitowoc; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Hacker of Manitowoc and Ruth and James Jaehnig of Manitowoc; three grandsons, Greg and his wife, Merrie Scheuer of Chicago, Mark and his wife, Joanie Scheuer of Knoxville, Tennessee and Christopher Scheuer of Madison; several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers from 10 am to 10:45 am Saturday morning.

Marriage of Edgar/Helen Schmeichel
Miss Helen LaFond, popular Two Rivers young lady and Edgar Schmeichel were wed at the parsonage of St. Luke's Catholic Church at 7 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. C. V. Hugo, officiating. Miss Irene Glesner, a friend of the couple and Clement Lafond, brother of the bride were the attending couple. A wedding breakfast was served after the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Lafond, 1615 East Street, Mr. and Mrs. Schmeichel then leaving for Chicago. They will reside on Harbor East Street. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schmeichel, 1310 Twentieth St. and is employed as a machinist in Plant No. 4 of the Aluminum Goods. The bride is popular in a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
