Mrs. Laura Josephine (Laura Jo) Hurst, age 91, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dresden.
Funeral service will be Friday, September 20, 2019, 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the church until funeral time at 1:00.
Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Hurst; her daughter, Judith Anne Gonsowski; parents, Abe Burchard and Josephine Everett Burchard.
Mrs. Hurst retired as the head secretary for the Memphis City School System. She was a graduate of Martin High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Duerr of Martin; two sons, Greg Duerr of Memphis and Andrew Duerr of Cordova, TN; step-daughter, Becky Hurst; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
