Linda Sue Blucker was born on May 4, 1939 in Pulaski County, Olmstead, Arkansas. She was the third surviving child and daughter of John Olof Blucker and Hazel Ernestine Collar of Arkansas.

Linda Sue (as her father John Olof “JO” referred to her) met her first true love, William (Bill) Brooksher M.D. and they married on April 7, 1962. Bill was in a fatal car accident just one week after they were married. She was devastated and poured herself into her studies where she was focusing on Medical Laboratory Services at the time. She had many discussions with her husband about her frustrations with not always agreeing with the direction the physicians gave (all men at the time). He always encouraged her to follow her passion. She knew that life could be short and used her experiences as an impetus to ignite and follow her passion to become a physician and lead her life.

She continued to live her life, curiosity leading the way, jumping in with no inhibitions. Following her passion and heart and navigating through always with compassion and integrity. She started taking flying lessons in 1963 and married the father of her future four children in 1964, Robert Richard Maxwell. She received her 1st medical degree license in 1967 and practiced Anesthesiology in Arizona while her husband was practicing Orthopedic Surgery. They divorced in 1977 and Linda Sue continued to follow her inner voice that called her to Psychiatry. She completed her second medical degree residency in Arkansas focusing on Psychiatry in 1982 and practiced at the Veterans Association in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was a kind, compassionate, gracious, loving and brilliant Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Anesthesiologist , Psychiatrist, Friend, Listener, Supporter, and Champion of all things right. Linda Sue eventually met her soul mate Dave Hallman, in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1993. They enjoyed their retired life together and lived in several scenic settings in the southeast. They bought their dream country home situated on Lake Conway in Mayflower, Arkansas. They lived in the Ozark mountains in Pyatt, AR, and in the beautiful Villages retirement community in central Florida. They enjoyed traveling and taking road trips to casinos all over the U.S. They loved the adventure of the journey on the road, and when they arrived at their destination, Mom always had crazy great luck at the slots! Mom moved to the West Coast in 2011 where she was closer to her children and got to see them often in her last 6 years. She passed at 79 years old on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 surrounded by her children at home in San Francisco.

Mom shared with us her love of music, dance, and dogs. She was a talented piano player. She liked gold jewelry and well-manicured hands. And she taught us that dinner should always include a salad. But more than all of that, our mother was a person who exemplified loving-kindness. Even as her dementia progressed, Mom treated everyone in her orbit with a sweetness that made our hearts swell.

We are better people for knowing you Dr. Linda Sue Hallman and we will continue to be better people as we carry on your legacy through the cherished memories of our lives together. Linda Sue will be forever remembered by her sister, Judy Blucker, and her four children, Richard, Jennifer, Seth, and Brooke. Linda will also be lovingly remembered by her five granddaughters.
