Jerry was born July 14, 1937, in Galesburg, the son of Leslie R. and Veneta E. McMeen Anderson. He married Martha J. Hoffman on Jan. 29, 1956, in Galesburg.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha; his son, Jeff (Lesley) Anderson of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Rick (Kim) Bond and their children, Ben, Jace and Alaina, Andrew (Katie) Bond and their children, Madeline and Clark, Michael Bond, Kate Anderson and David (Glenda) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jennifer Bond, on March 3, 2011.
Jerry worked for the Galesburg Fire Department, retiring as captain in 1988. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955 and attended Carl Sandburg College. Jerry was an avid golfer. He was a skilled woodworker, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Private family graveside services will be held at East Linwood Cemetery with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. There will be no visitation, and cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date.
