Lionne Margaret Rawlings, oldest child of Joseph H. and Julina Ann Rawlings was born near Bloomfield, Ia. 1866 and died after an illness of several years at Los Cruces, New Mexico on July 4, 1951 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 4 days. She came with her family to Nebraska in March 1880 where they settled on a farm near Ceresco. She lived in or near Ceresco the remainder of her life except for an extended visit with her daughter in Las Cruces. At 11 years of age, she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Bloomfield, transferring to the Presbyterian Church at Ceresco after coming to Nebraska. In the year 1924, she with her husband and three children, affiliated with the Ceresco Methodist church and she remained a faithful member to the best of her ability until God called her to be with Him. February 3, 1885, she was united in marriage to David C. Carter of Ceresco. To this union were born two daughters, Grace and Rae. Mr. and Mrs. Carter enjoyed only a few years of wedded happiness, for on November 16, 1888, Mr. Carter passed away, leaving his wife to care for the two little girls, which she did tenderly and faithfully. On June 8, 1898, she married James F. Hunter of Ceresco. One daughter, Julie and two sons, James F. and Coit were born to this union. Mr. Hunter passed away on July 2, 1946. Mrs. Hunter was a charter member of Ceresco Chapter No. 198, O.E.S., serving as its Worthy Matron during the years 1911 and 1912. She is survived by her five children: Mrs. Grace Carstensen, Oakland, Oregon; Mrs. Rae Carlson, Lincoln; Mrs. Julia Ludwick of Las Cruces, New Mexico; James F. and Coit W. Hunter of Ceresco; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Walker of Lincoln and Mrs. Augusta Riggs of Crawford; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A brother, Rufus, died in infancy and a brother, James M. Rawlings and two sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Paul and Mrs. Bessie Riggs have preceded her in death within the short space of three years. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. C. J. Kellow of Battle Creek, Iowa, a former pastor, assisted by the Rev. James Jackman, pastor of the Ceresco Methodist Church. Out of town relatives present were Mrs. H. P. Carstensen of Oakland, Oregon; Mrs. And Mrs. A. V. Carlson of Lincoln; Mrs. And Mrs. R. W. Ludwick of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Mrs. L. C. Walker of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Riggs and son, Ralph of Crawford; Mrs. J. M. Rawlings of Guide Rock, Nebr; Mrs. Chris Guy of Alliance; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Paul of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Paul and Harold Jean of Fremont; Julian and Nina Paul of Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Paul and family of Ewing; Mr. and Mrs. Oren Rawlings of Archer; Miss Stander of Union; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Johnson; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johnson; Mrs. And Mrs. Elmer Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lux, all of Lincoln. Mrs. Kellow accompanied her husband to the services.
