Mavis was one of seven daughters born to a couple that owned a wheat farm in Montana. All the girls had the initials of M. L. P. Every summer, the girls and their husbands and children would go home to the farm and get in the harvest for their parents.
Back in the 60's I had the pleasure of working with Mavis for several years at the Sears store in Yuba City, CA. She was a great co-worker and friend. Because of the wonderful person she was, everyone liked her. She later went to work for Sutter County and we lost touch.
Mavis was the mother of one daughter and two sons. She and her husband Louie had been married since they were teenagers. Sadly, one night, while she slept, he shot her to death, then turned the shotgun on himself.
Her oldest, Louis Jr., has recently died and is also listed on Find A Grave.
