Jack H. Carlson, 88, passed away peacefully July 4, 2007, at the Billings Clinic, with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother and son David.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy B. Carlson; his two sons, Larry of Billings and Dennis of Enumclaw, Wash.; his daughter, Joan Morgan of Thornton, Colo.; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was born April 4, 1919, to John N. and Mabel P. Carlson in Roundup, where they owned and operated the Carlson Cabins & Highway Services Gas & Grocery.
Starting at the age of 17, Jack spent 12 years working in the #3 Coal Mine in Roundup. In 1950, he moved his family to Billings and spent the next five years with the U.S. Postal Service. He then went on to the bakery industry for 23 years and 18 years as a custodian for Billings School District #2.
In 1996, he retired and spent much of that time fishing with his wife, two of his favorite loves.
Visitations will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 9, at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at the Smith West Chapel, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
