From 1938 until 1942, he farmed in Scurry County, Texas. Moved to Bisbee, AZ worked in the coal mines until 1944. Then they moved to Odessa, Ector County, Texas and remained there for 61 years. He worked in the oil fields of West Texas until 1960 when he opened the first of four of what was known as Collier's Laundry Mats. He retired in 1980.
Robert was active at the Northside Senior Citizens Center. Volunteered at the Permian Basin Food Bank. Enjoyed playing 42. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Being the last of his generation, he is survived by his daughters, three grandsons, Brian, Robert, and Matthew. Five great-grandchildren, Allison, Brittany, LaCurtis, Morgan and Savannah.
