Thelma Marie Brockett, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006. She was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Detroit, and resided in Nevada for 35 years. Thelma was a professional caregiver with great compassion and dedication. Thelma's concern for the comfort of others was not limited to just people, she loved rescuing animals, both wild and domestic. Her favorite place to be in Vegas was in front of a video poker slot machine. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, William Porter Brockett. She is the beloved mother of David Brockett, his wife, Mary of Pensacola, Fla.; grandmother of Melissa Brockett of Nashville, Tenn., and Kimberly Miller, her husband, Michael; and great-grandmother to William Franklin Brockett-Miller of Pensacola. No services are scheduled. Contributions may be made to any animal welfare organization.
